GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— After receiving an all-conference honor on Wednesday, Colorado Mesa University softball standout
Ally Distler picked up another accolade on Thursday morning as she has been named at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Summit Award Winner for 2024.
She will formally receive her award in pre-game ceremonies before the Mavs' RMAC Tournament opener this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the CMU Softball Stadium.
The RMAC Summit Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA who is competing at the championship site amongst other requirements.
A the redshirt junior from Littleton, Colorado, holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and is majoring in psychology. Distler was also named to the First Team All-RMAC squad at the Utility/Non-Pitcher position on Wednesday afternoon and has had a stellar season and career to date.
Academically, Distler was named as the RMAC Academic Player of the Year in 2022 and went on to be named as a CoSIDA Academic All-American that year, awards she will be nominated for again this season. She redshirted due to injury in 203.
In 2024 on the field, she has hit 19 home runs, tied for the second most in the RMAC, and is second in the conference with 68 RBIs. She ranks sixth in the national statistics with both of those marks.
Distler had led the RMAC in home runs with 18 as a sophomore in 2022 and has hit 44 in her time as a Mav, tied for third most in program history.
Distler also leads the Mavs with 11 stolen bases and 26 walks this season and has scored 60 runs as an integral part of the Maverick lineup that has scored a NCAA Division II-leading 447 runs as a team while winning the RMAC's Regular Season title with a 41-3 conference record. The Mavs, 43-7 overall, have won 33 straight games.
