GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa men's basketball forward
Trevor Baskin added to his trophy case by earning a pair of All-American honors Tuesday morning.
Baskin was one of 16 players named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-America Team and also earned a Third Team All-American nod from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).
Baskin joins Ryan Stephan, a 2016 honoree, as the only Colorado Mesa men's basketball players to earn All-American recognition from both organizations in the same season. Baskin becomes the third Maverick player to earn an All-America mention from each organization, joining Stephan (First Team) and Mike Dominguez (Second Team, 2010) as D2CCA All-Americans and joining Stephan and
Ethan Menzies (2021) as NABC All-Americans in program history.
The Arvada, Colorado native has had a phenomenal awards season, taking home the 2024 RMAC Player of the Year honor as well as First Team All-Region honors from both the NABC and D2CCA. Baskin also gained spots on the RMAC All-Conference and All-Academic First Teams, as well as the All-Tournament Teams for both the RMAC Tournament and South Central regional of the NCAA Tournament. He is also on the Top 25 Watchlist for the Bevo Francis award, given by Small College Basketball to the best non-Division I basketball player in the nation.
Playing in and starting all 34 of CMU's games in 2024, Baskin ended the season averaging 18.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.4 blocks per game, leading the team and ranking in the top four of the RMAC in all four categories. For the season, Baskin shot 57.4 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from three-point range and 67.2 percent from the line. During Colorado Mesa's NCAA record-breaking run of 58 consecutive made free throws, Baskin was responsible for 22 of those foul shots.
Baskin scored 620 points this season, a single-season total which ranks ninth in CMU history. Baskin ends the 2024 season with 1,656 career points, fifth on CMU's all-time scoring list. He is 14 points away from Connor Nichols (2015-19) in fourth place with 1,670 and 571 points away from his father, Jon Baskin (1988-91), CMU's all-time leading scorer with 2,227 points.
Baskin also played his best basketball during CMU's biggest moments. In Colorado Mesa's six postseason games (three RMAC Tournament and three NCAA Tournament), Baskin averaged 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, highlighted by a 31-point, 13-rebound performance in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Eastern New Mexico. In three games against RMAC rivals Fort Lewis, Baskin averaged 17.3 points and 9.3 boards per game, and in two games against regional champions West Texas A&M, Baskin averaged 23.5 points and 9.5 boards.
Against New Mexico Highlands on February 23, Baskin scored a career-high 43 points alongside nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and four blocks. He also scored 31 points against Westminster on February 27.
