Skiing Competes at Powderhorn

CMU Alpine Ski stayed home for race #3 with homehill Powderhorn as the host. Our race weekend aligned with Mavs Takeover the Mountain and the Mavily gave the skiers the homehill advantage as they cheered on the Mavericks. The weekend consisted of a Dual Slalom with head-to-head action on Saturday and then a regular Slalom on Sunday. Overall, CMU joined seven other teams who participate in the Rocky Mountain conference (Air Force, CU, CO School of Mines, Western, CSU, Fort Lewis and University of Utah) for a fun and competitive weekend of racing.

On the women's side, student-athletes Jamie Weibler placed a best of 24th. The women's team remains in 6th place overall. On the men's side, student-athletes Halsey Lucas scored a best of 10th, Tyler Weldon scored a best of 15th, Colby Malpass scored a best of 17th, Preston Sobeck scored a best of 23rd, Palmer Lyons scored a best of 25th, Nick Hearn scored a best of 27th, and Tanner Rozek DNF. The men's team is holding a competitive 3rd place overall.

Alpine Ski will head to Keystone next on February 16th for a weekend of racing.
