Skiing Competes at Purgatory

CMU Alpine Ski traveled to Purgatory Ski Resort for Giant Slalom races and some makeup races from the cancelled events in Winter Park earlier in the season. Overall, CMU joined 7 other teams who participate in the Rocky Mountain conference (Air Force, CU, CO School of Mines, Western, CSU, Fort Lewis and University of Utah) for a fun and competitive weekend of training.

On the women's side, student-athletes Jorja Cooper placed a best of 25th while Jamie Weibler placed a best of 32nd. The women's team overall placed 6th. On the men's side, student-athletes Halsey Lucas scored a best of 6th, Tanner Rozek scored a best of 12th, Preston Sobeck scored a best of 16th, Palmer Lyons scored a best of 22nd, Colby Malpass scored a best of 13th, and Nick Hearn scored a best of 29th (Tyler Weldon absence due to illness). The men's team overall placed in a competitive 3rd! Results link here!

Alpine Ski will be racing at home this weekend and is excited to be a part of the Mavs Takeover the Mountain festivities up at Powderhorn! There will be an exciting Dual SL on Saturday for head-to-head action and a SL (single course) race on Sunday.
