Mav duo wraps up AVCA Beach National Championships

Ask/Nolan win opening set in final weekend match

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.— Colorado Mesa University beach volleyball pair Ellie Ask and Barett Nolan won the opening set but dropped their final match of the weekend at the AVCA Beach Volleyball National Championships on Sunday here at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex.

Ask and Nolan played against UT-Martin's Olivia O'Keefe and Riley Rushing in their lone match of the day falling, 22-24, 21-15, 15-9 and tied for 63rd in the 3-day tournament.

They were seeded 63rd and were one of just two pairs from non-NCAA Division I institutions in the event.

As a team, the Mavericks have finished amongst the top three of the NCAA Division II bracket at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in each of the last three years, winning the title in 2022.

They will begin their main spring season in February.
