The CMU Women are on track to attend the CNFR qualification at the end of the year. The Team came scored as the second highest team on the weekend for the second week in a row, cementing themselves as a force to be reckoned with during the 23-24 season.Â
Ralson Descheny is making his presence known at CMU qualifying for his second Tie-Down Roping short round in as many weeks, while also qualifying in the #2 spot out of the long round in the Team Roping with partner Jett VanBiezen of Idaho State.  He was joined in the Team Roping Short Round by two of CMU's returning women from their 2023 CNFR Team, Wylee Mitchell and McKenna Clingman, who paired up and put together a 10 flat. Â
Mitchell, a sophomore from Pioche, Nev., had a busy Saturday night qualifying back to the short round in three events.  In addition to her Team Roping with Clingman she also came back 10th in the Goat Tying and lead the field by over a full tenth of a second with a round winning 17.56 that brought her back in the high call position of the Barrel Racing.   She was joined by Ky Murphy who qualified in the number seven and then turned in a 17.89 for 5th in the short round and an 8th place finish overall.  Â
Justise Jones of Alberta duplicated her week one success in a different event, holding strong in the Goat Tying with an 8.1 and an 8.3, both on the elongated 120 foot score of the Bannock County Arena.  Her total time of 16.4 on two gave her points out of both go rounds and a split of 3/4 in the Average to be the team's leading Women's point earner of the weekend.  For the Men's team that honor went to Freshmen Kaden Radebough of California who qualified for his first short round as a Maverick with a 7.1 out of round 1, followed by a 6.7 on Saturday night for a 13.8 on two and a final placing of #2 in the average. Â
In addition, Taylor Davis and Erica Blum both outlasted the field in a Breakaway short round that saw over half the contestants fall to no times.  Respectively qualifying to the short round in 9th and 10th, both women earned points in the short round and average.Â
After over 900 miles of windshield time last weekend, the CMU team is looking forward to their next rodeo in Craig, Colorado hosted by Colorado Northwestern Community College.  Â
