Â
On Thursday, the Bergman Family along with several other distinguished guests will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony prior to the 6:05pm scheduled first pitch at 5pm. The Bergman Family will throw out the first pitch led by his son Walt.
Â
On Friday, the first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm with the second game scheduled for approximately 6:30pm. Colorado Governor Jared Polis is scheduled to throw out the first pitch of game two of the doubleheader with fireworks presented by Alpine Bank to follow the game.
Â
On Saturday, Colorado Mesa will recognize their 13 seniors prior to the game for their contributions to the program.
Â
RMAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior
Haydn McGeary collected his third RMAC Player of the Week honor of the season after his performance against Colorado Christian this past weekend. McGeary was the first-ever Maverick to hit four home runs in a game in game one of the series with the Cougars. He finished that game 5-for-5 with six runs scored and six runs driven in as well.
Â
For the series, McGeary batted .571 (8-for-14) with two doubles, five home runs, nine runs scored and nine runs driven in. His OPS ended north of 2.400 and drew five free passes (four walks and a hit by pitch.)
Â
RUN PRODUCER
One of the most important stats out there is runs scored and when you think about it, if you can't score runs, you can't win games. There aren't many people in the country doing a better job in scoring runs then senior
Caleb Farmer.
Â
Farmer ranks second in the country in runs scored this season with 75, only Gage Ragona of Spring Hill has more with 82. The San Jacinto, Calif. native has a rare blend of scoring a lot of runs and driving a lot of runs in as he ranks 15
th nationally in that category with 64.
Â
The senior is the all-time leader in Colorado Mesa and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history with 239 career runs scored and will make a run at Joe Dirnberger's single season record of 100 runs scored in 2004.
Â

WHERE WE STAND
Keep it simple…win three games this weekend and the Mavericks will claim their 25
th Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season title.
Â
Both MSU Denver and CSU Pueblo enter the weekend tied for third, two games back of Colorado Mesa at 17-11. The ThunderWolves will take on the Mavericks this weekend while MSU Denver has an inter-city matchup with Colorado Christian. Regis is currently in second, percentage points ahead of both CSU Pueblo and MSU Denver.
Â
The NCAA Regional picture likely changed ever so slightly this weekend. Early projections have Angelo State elevating to the top spot with Colorado Mesa sliding into the No. 2 position. Texas A&M Kingsville will move up to No. 3 and West Texas A&M moving to No. 4. Lubbock Christian settles into the No. 5 spot with MSU Denver falling to No. 6. UT Tyler will likely be No. 7 and then either St. Edwards or CSU Pueblo will be in at No. 8.
Â
SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
New head coach Bobby Applegate, a CSU Pueblo alum, has brought new life to the historic program and has the ThunderWolves in contention for the top spot in the conference. After some early bumps during the non-conference portion of the season, the ThunderWolves have righted the ship and have things moving in the right direction. The Pack are tied for second in the RMAC standings with MSU Denver and have an outside shot of earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament should they not win the conference tournament.
Â
Reggie Williams leads the ThunderWolf offense with a .390 batting average with 12 doubles with 30 runs driven in. Williams has a keen eye at the plate with 32 walks that has helped him to a .503 on-base-percentage. His best game at the plate came in the series finale with Adams State where he went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, five runs driven in, and a home run.
Â
Despite not having the best numbers on the team, Tim McIntyre is the Pack's best pitcher. He is 7-1 on the season with a 7.94 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched. McIntyre had a season-high nine strikeouts against both MSU Denver and New Mexico Highlands.
Â
THE WINNING WAY
As it was announced by the NCAA last year that Colorado Mesa was the winningest baseball team of the past decade. To shorten the window even more, they have the highest winning percentage since 2017 at .806. They have a higher winning percentage then some of the top programs in Division II baseball including Angelo State (.770), North Greenville (.768), Tampa (.759), and Central Missouri (.747).
Â
Colorado Mesa is in search of their 41
st straight winning season.
Â
THE SKIPPER
The Mavericks are headed up by living legend
Chris Hanks who is the Mavericks all-time leader in wins with an overall record of 976-379 and has won nearly 72 percent of the games he has coached in. He is entering his 24
th season as the head coach and has guided the Mavericks to 16 RMAC Championships, 17 NCAA Tournament appearances and four trips to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
Â
During his tenure, he has been named the RMAC Coach of the Year 12 times, the ABCA Regional Coach of the Year four times and was twice named the NCBWA National Coach of the Year.
Â
Coach Hanks is always quick to point to his coaching staff when discussing his personal successes as the staff has been intact for the past 12 seasons with others having been on staff just as long and longer than his entire coaching tenure.
Â
PRESEASON POLLS
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason poll was released earlier this year and once again the Mavericks were picked to win the regular season title unanimously. They received all eight first-place votes possible and will be in search of their 25
th overall and 10
th straight regular season titles. UCCS was picked second followed by MSU Denver, and Regis to round out the top four.
Â
Colorado Mesa has gained national attention by being picked No. 2 in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason National Poll despite the Mavericks not making it to Cary last season. Tampa was the preseason pick to make it back to the National Championship Tournament and win it.
Â
In the NCBWA Preseason National Poll, the Mavericks were picked No. 4 behind Tampa, defending national champion Wingate and Central Missouri.
Â
ON DECK
The Mavericks will host the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament should they win the series with CSU Pueblo this weekend. That tournament will begin on Wednesday with the winner of the tournament guaranteed the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA South Central Region tournament scheduled for the following weekend.
