DEARBORN, Mich.— Maverick graduate student 
Kyle Pearson made seven birdies and carded a 5-under par round of 67 in his final collegiate round to lead the Colorado Mesa University men's golf team to their best round of the tournament on Wednesday at the NCAA Division II National Championships being played here at TPC of Michigan.
 
Pearson's score, the second best of his 5-year collegiate career and just one of his career-best, helped the Mavericks post a third round team score of 304 and a final 3-round total of 924. 
 
The Mavs finished 18
th as a team in their first ever team appearance at national championships after finishing with team scores of 311 and 309 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
 
Pearson finished with a 54-hole total of 226 (+10) and was in a tie for 39
th place out of 108 golfers in the field as of 4 p.m. local time with the top teams still out on the course.
 
Meanwhile, 
Dakota Gillman posted his best round of the week on Wednesday, carding two birdies and a round of 77 on the 7,056-yard, par-72 course.  The redshirt freshman finished with a 54-hole total of 238 (+22).
 
Redshirt sophomore 
Peter Grossenbacher finished at 231 (+15) and posted a 79 on Wednesday.
 
True freshman 
Timmy Cavarno was in between Gillman and Grossenbacher in the final standings.  He carded a round of 85 on Wednesday and finished at 236 (+22) for the tournament.
 
Sophomore 
Yael Chahin was CMU's fifth man for the tournament finishing at 240 (+24).  He posted an 81 on Wednesday.
