CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team completed their regular season with the third and final round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday (Apr. 19) at Whirlwind Golf Club.
 
The Mavericks, once again, had a strong day on the course but put themselves in too big of a hole after day one to make up any significant ground and settled for sixth place in the team standings with a three-round score of 5-over, 869. In today's round, they shot the third lowest score of the day with a 3-under, 285.
 
They ended up two shots back of fifth-place Fort Lewis and nine strokes behind fourth-place Westminster. CSU Pueblo was crowned the RMAC Champion after finishing with a 19-under, 845.
 
Redshirt sophomore 
Peter Grossenbacher was the top finisher for the Mavericks as he tied for sixth place with a 3-under, 213 in his three rounds. Grossenbacher shot a 2-under, 70 in today's final round as he carded four birdies against two bogeys.
 
Senior 
Kyle Pearson had a top-20 finish as he fired an even-par, 72 in today's final round. He had three birdies against three bogeys and wound up with a 2-over, 218.
 
UCCS' Rio Newcombe was the overall medalist with 10-under, 206.
 
The Mavericks will await word from the NCAA whether they have qualified for the NCAA South Central / West Super Region Tournament. Selections are scheduled to be released on Friday April 22. The West / South Central Super Region Tournament is scheduled to run from May 5-7 at Pueblo Country Club.
