MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released their Scholar All-America teams and individuals last Friday (Apr. 15) afternoon. The NWCA honored 314 student-athletes as Scholar All-Americans this season.
 
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated for the award, they must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA with those that qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships needing a 3.25 GPA. NCAA Division II All-Americans needed a 3.0 GPA to achieve the honor with all wrestlers needing to meet a minimum of four dates of competition.
 
RMAC Summit Award honoree Donnie Negus highlights five Mavericks that earned the distinction this season. Negus qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third year in a row and was named to the list for the second straight season while earning his degree in Fitness and Health Promotion.
 
Seth Latham and Collin Metzgar each qualified for the NCAA Championships and earned Scholar All-America honors. Latham is earning his degree in Energy Management / Land Management while Metzgar is working towards his degree in History.
 
Dylan Ranieri and Ben Robuck were each named to the Scholar All-America team this year as members of the program that met the requirements. Ranieri is working towards a degree in Business Management while Robuck is a Nursing major.
 
Colorado Mesa finished tenth in the team standings with a 3.342 team GPA which was the highest team GPA in the region. They edged out Nebraska-Kearney who had a 3.185 GPA and Fort Hays State who finished with a 3.174 GPA.
