Grossenbacher Paces Mavericks in Final Round

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team closed out the final round of the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Tuesday (Mar. 8) afternoon at The Legacy Golf Club. The Mavericks finished the round where they started in 12th place with a three-round score of 903.
 
The Mavericks shot 12-over, 300 on the round but couldn't make up any ground to climb into the top ten. Flagler finished in 11th place after a 10-over, 298 in their final round to finish at 896 while 10th place CSU Pueblo was 13-over on the day but had a three-round score of 895.
 
For the third straight day, a different golfer paced the Mavericks. In the final round, Peter Grossenbacher fired a 2-under, 70 to lead the five golfers in the field. Grossenbacher carded six birdies in the round including four on the front nine of the course. He finished in a tie for 35th place at 8-over, 224 to lead the team on the individual leaderboard.
 
Dakota Gillman stayed steady throughout the tournament and finished at 9-over, 225 for a tie for 40th place. In today's round, he shot a 6-over, 78.
 
Freshman Chris Tarmet shot a 1-over, 73 in the final round to finish as the Mavericks number two golfer in the round. He had four birdies on his card and finished in a tie for 49th on the individual leaderboard.
 
Colorado Mesa will head to Texas in two weeks for the Lion Invitational at Trophy Country Club.
