FRESNO, Calif.— The nation's 46
th-ranked Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds won every match in a 7-0 victory over the Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team on Monday afternoon here at the Sunbirds' Haak Tennis Complex.
The Sunbirds improved to 8-6 with the win as the Mavericks slipped to 7-10.
Freshman
Macy Richards was the lone Maverick to win a set, as she won the first set of her No. 5 singles match against Alice Marques, by a 6-4 score. However, Marques came back to take the second set, 6-0, and then won the match tie-breaker, 10-7.
Fellow freshman
Makenna Livingston was the next best Maverick effort. She fell 6-3, 6-2 to Lea Falentin, ranked 24
th in the latest ITA NCAA Division II singles rankings.
The Mavericks will wrap up a 3-day stay in Fresno playing Dominican University of California in a neutral-court match-up at 1:30 p.m. PDT (2:30 p.m. Mountain). The Penguins are 6-4 after claiming a Sunday afternoon home win over American River College.
