SALT LAKE CITY— Outside hitter
Sierra Hunt led three Colorado Mesa University Mavericks in double-figures for kills as the Mavs continued some strong play and reached the 20-win mark for the second straight season, sweeping host Westminster College on Tuesday night here in the Griffins' Behnken Field House.
The nation's 15
th-ranked Mavs hit .373 as a team as they claimed their 12
th straight overall victory by 25-19, 25-15, 25-20 margins to improve to 20-4 overall and to 15-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, good for sole possession of second place in the conference standings.
The Griffins were out-gunned and fell to 6-19 overall and to 4-13 in RMAC play with their ninth loss in ten matches.
CMU, now assured of at least the No. 3 seed in next week's RMAC Tournament, has now knocked off WC 15 straight times since 2015.
Hunt led the Mavs with a season-high 20 kills on .405 hitting and was joined in double figures by
Tye Wedhorn and
Sydney Leffler. Wedhorn recorded 12 kills and hit .556 while Leffler recorded ten kills and hit .250.
Savannah Spitzer was just shy of double figures, recording nine kills while hitting .615.
The Mavs had a big 57-31 advantage in total kills and nearly doubled the Griffins' .208 team hitting percentage. They also had 54-33 advantage in total digs as libero

Sabrina VanDeList also had another strong outing with 47 assists and eight digs.
Hunt and Wedhorn finished with three solo apiece as the Mavericks recorded seven blocks.
Lydia Miller had 11 kills and hit .417 to lead the Griffins.
The Mavs hit an even .400 in both the first and second sets and swung at a .325 clip in the final set.
After controlling the first and second, the Mavs trailed by as many as four points at 15-11, 16-12 and 17-13.
They still trailed 19-17 but rattled off the next seven points to take a 24-20 as Hunt took over with three consecutive kills. VanDeList and Wedhorn also had kills in the run.
After fighting off the first match-point, Hunt then finished the match with her final kill. The redshirt sophomore has now been in double-figures for six consecutive matches and has hit .471 while averaging more than five kills per set in the last three Maverick victories, all 3-set sweeps.
The Mavericks will now prepare for another showdown when they head to Denver to face No. 14 Regis in the final regular season-match up for both teams on Saturday at 3 p.m.
