GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 5 Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team dropped just one bout in a 41-6 win over first-year program Chadron State on Friday evening in Brownson Arena.
 
Prior to the dual, the Mavericks honored four wrestlers who were competing in their final home dual of their career in Kaylee Haynes, Lexi Valdez, Mayte Villada and Jolynn Harris. Haynes made a huge impression in her final bout in Brownson Arena.
 
The fourth-ranked Haynes needed just 24 seconds to pin her opponent at 143 pounds with the crowd going nuts as the pin occurred. Haynes, a Grand Junction native, was the Mavericks first program signee and owns the school record for wins with her 59th career win in a Maverick singlet.
 
Kaylie Catalano got things going at 101 pounds with a 3-0 decision victory over Kinsey Smith of Chadron State. With the win, Catalano improved to 6-11 on the season and gave the Mavericks the early 3-0 lead in the dual.
 
Colorado Mesa then received four straight forfeits in the dual and gained a 23-0 lead heading into the 136-pound bout.
 
Jolynn Harris came away with a 3-1 win over Ryleigh Dye in her bout to improve to 10-6 on the season.
 
After Haynes' win at 143-pounds, Mayte Villada earned a pin at 155 pounds over Jeslyn Jindra at 2:12. Villada fell behind early but worked her way back into the bout and earned the pin late in the first period.
 
Jayleen Sekona accepted the forfeit at 191 pounds in the final weight of the night.
 
The win secures an undefeated dual slate for the Mavericks this season at 5-0.
 
The Mavericks also won five of the seven extra matches on the evening, highlighted by the technical fall win by Carissa Epling 12-1 over Kinsey Smith.
 
Colorado Mesa will be on the road on February 5 for the Grand View Open before the NCWWC Southwest Regional Championships at McKendree.
