Biography
2023-24: Claimed her third career all-America honor after placing seventh at the NCWWC National Championships… Placed third at the Region VI Championships to earn the trip after not wrestling at the RMAC Championships… Had a strong 11-3 overall record despite missing a 2-plus month chunk of the season due to injury… Won her first five matches of the campaign… Named as the first ever RMAC Women’s Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 8 after winning the Maverick Open title… Won both of her dual meet starts and had two wins by fall and three by technical fall… Was named as NWCA Scholar All-American for the second time.
2022-23: Earned NCWWC All-America honors for the second straight year after placing fifth at the national championships, punctuating a strong 25-12 overall season in the 191-pound weight class… Went 4-2 at the national championship after going 3-1 to place third at the Region V Championships… Placed in all five tournaments that she wrested in, taking second at the Maverick Open, seventh at the Missouri Valley Open and fourth at the Bearcat Open before the championship successes… Went 8-4 in duals… Had eight wins by fall and five others by technical fall throughout the campaign… Defeated nationally-ranked Katja Osteen of Simon Fraser twice… Also had four other wins over nationally-ranked foes from various levels of collegiate wrestling… Named as a NWCA Scholar All-American.
2021-22: NCWWC All-American after placing third at 191 pounds at the National Tournament...Finished the season with an overall record of 22-10...Placed in the top three at seven of the eight tournaments she competed in...Entered the National Tournament unranked and earned four wins over nationally ranked wrestlers at the tournament.
HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestled for the Wolverines of South Anchorage High School and coach Randy Hanson...Two-time Alaska State Champion.
PERSONAL: Majoring in Business Administration...Daughter of Sharon and Jay Sekona...Has three siblings, Emily, Julian, and Viliami...Chose CMU for the location and academic offerings...Enjoys hiking, net fishing and crafting.
