Lila Dere scored her fifth goal of the young season and extended her scoring streak to four straight games before the Minot State University Beavers equalized with just 44 seconds remaining in regulation and then struck again 5:36 into overtime to claim a come-from-behind win over the Mavericks on Saturday here at Westminster College's Dumke Field.
The now 3-1 Mavericks had claimed a similar 3-2 come-from-behind victory in overtime over No. 10 Northwest Nazarene but saw their perfect start come to an end.
The Mavericks finished the contest with a 21-16 advantage in total shots as Dere led all players with seven attempts, including three on goal. The Mavs out-shot the Beavers, 8-7 in the first half and 11-8 in the second.
She had put the Mavericks ahead with an unassisted tally at the 54:24 mark before the Beavers' Lainey Sandberg scored the equalizer of an assist from Melanie van Walstjin in the final minute of regulation.
The Mavericks then took the first two shots of the overtime before the Beavers' Chloe Allen netted the golden goal winner off a Hannah Mitchell assist with 4:24 remaining in the first overtime.

Chloe Dody made five saves while Maddie Kindred tallied six for the Beavers, who claimed their first win in three attempts this season.
Sofia Lewis and van Walstijn had five shots a piece to lead the Beaver attack.
Only 12 fouls were called throughout the entire contest.
The Mavericks will continue their season next Saturday playing at Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. The Toros were 2-1 heading into a Saturday afternoon game against Concordia-Irvine, who the Mavs play in nine days on Sept. 20.
