COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Up against a conference favorite, and nationally ranked UCCS (6-0, 4-0 RMAC) team, the Colorado Mesa (3-3-1, 1-2 RMAC) women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision in Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon.
The Mountain Lions ran an efficient offense, scoring four goals on nine total shots, seven aimed at the goal frame. The Mavericks took six total shots, with only one being on goal. CMU was limited to just two corner kicks on the day, but came up with three saves.
The teams were entering the 11
th minute of play when Tarah Patterson netted her first goal of the game, with help from Amelia Junge. Just before the teams broke for the half, UCCS increased their lead to two on a goal from Kelsey Takahashi.
Colorado Mesa would hold UCCS off up until the 67
th minute when Patterson would find the back of the net again and extend the lead.
With less fifteen minutes left to play, UCCS found themselves with a penalty kick opportunity and executed for the final 4-0 score.
The Mavericks will look to get back in the win column, hosting the MSU Denver Roadrunners, Thursday April 8, on Maverick Field.
