GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks scored in all ten of their half-innings and banged out 26 hits to sweep a pair of mercy-rule Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games over visiting New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday here at the CMU Softball Stadium.
 
All nine starters had a hit in the 11-3 opening game win, which lasted six innings, while eight starters and a reserve recorded hits in the 13-1 second game win over five innings as the nation's 19
th-ranked Mavericks completed their fourth series sweep and fifth series win as many tries this season to improve to 19-1.    The Mavericks had won by 10-1 and 10-6 scores on Friday.
 
NMHU fell to 5-19 with Saturday's losses.
 
CMU Table-setters 
Brooke Doumer and 
Lauren Wedman were on base regularly as 
Ellie Smith recorded three doubles while 
Nicole Christensen and 
Ally Distler combined for 10 RBIs in the No. 4 and 5 spots of the lineup.  Doumer drew five walks and was hit by a pitch while going 2-for-3 officially as she was on base eight times in nine plate appearances, including in all five of the of the first game.
 
Wedman went 4-for-4 with a 3-run home run in the first game and was 6-for-7 with a walk, five runs scored and five RBIs throughout the twin-bill.
 
Distler, who drove in six runs, including a go-ahead 3-run home run in the first inning of game one while Christensen also smacked a home run while driving in four during the day.
 
Smith also tossed a 3-hit complete game in the second game win allowing just one run while 
Paige Adair shook off a rough start to improve to 10-0 on the season with the first-game victory from inside the circle.
 
Game 1
 
The Mavericks finished with 14 hits as a team as they hit three home runs and three doubles.
 
However, NMHU was the power-hitting team early as Camrynn Ziegler and Brooklynn DeLozier both hit home runs to begin the game.
 
The Mavericks then responded quickly scoring three runs in the bottom half of the inning on Distler's 2-out, 3-run home run, her fourth round-tripper of her freshman campaign. 
 
The Cowgirls then tied the game in the top of the second with an RBI single by Brooke De La Garza.  
Drew Sims and Doumer then drew walks before Sims was caught trying to steal third.  However, Wedman hit a home run down the left field line just four pitches later as the Mavericks seized a 5-3 lead.
Adair, who gave up four hits in the opening two innings, then settled down retiring 12 of the final 14 Cowgirls she faced finishing the game with just five hits and one walk allowed while striking out three.
 
Meanwhile, the Mavericks put up three runs in the bottom of the third as 
Ashley Bradford hit the first home run of her career before Wedman delivered an RBI single three players later after Sims hit an infield.
 
Leading 8-3 at that point, the Mavericks then added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings while-walking off when Doumer hit a RBI double to plate Bradford.  The Mavs had scored their fourth and fifth inning runs on sacrifice flies.
 
Game 2
 
The Mavericks would draw first and routine blood in the second game as a 1-out Wedman single followed by a Smith double set up 
Nicole Christensen for a sacrifice fly.
 
The Mavericks then scored eight runs in the second thanks to five hits and a couple of Cowgirl errors.  Christensen and Distler had the biggest blows of the frame with 2-run hits
 
Meanwhile, Smith enjoyed her 9-0 cushion and did not allow a hit in the first 2 2/3 innings before helping herself with a third-inning RBI single that drove in CMU's tenth run before another Cowgirl error allowed the Mavs to go up 11-0 when pinch-hitter 
Bryerly Avina, who later had her first career hit, scored all the way from first after reaching on a fielder's choice.
 
The Mavs also scored twice in the fourth inning to go up 13-0 when Wedman hit a RBI triple before Smith hit her home with a double, he national-leading 15
th of the season.
 
The Cowgirls would end Smith's shutout bid in the top of the fifth as De La Garza walked before scoring after singles by Tamia Yellowman and Ziegler.  However, the Cowgirls ran of outs as the Mavericks won via the mercy-rule for the 11th time this season.
 
Throughout the series, the Mavericks quadrupled the Cowgirls 44-11 in the scoring column and doubled them up in hits, 42-21.  The Mavs also drew 21 free passes (13 walks, 8 hit by pitches) and hit .416 as a team while recording a .496 team on-base percentage.
 
Wedman was 8-for-11 (.727) with four extra-base hits while scoring eight runs.  She and Smith both had 11-RBI weekends.  Smith had six doubles and a home run in her 8-for-12 (.667) weekend.]
 
The Mavericks, who are a perfect 12-0 at home, will take their longest road trip of the season next weekend facing Black Hills State in Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders in Spearfish, South Dakota.  The Yellowjackets are 3-20 on the season after splitting a home doubleheader on Saturday against CSU Pueblo.
