GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 2 Colorado Mesa baseball team completed the four-game sweep of Colorado School of Mines on Sunday as they defeated the Orediggers 25-0 at Suplizio Field in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
Kannon Handy earned the start in the finale and was dominant for five innings. Handy allowed just one hit while walking just one and striking out 11. He retired the first nine he faced striking out six including five in a row. The freshman threw 77 pitches to record his 15 outs while only facing 17 batters to earn his first win of the season.
Jared Ure and
Frankie Fitzgerald each pitched two innings of scoreless relief. They combined to allow two hits while striking out three.
The Mavericks only faced 29 batters in the game with 27 being the minimum possible.
Colorado Mesa hammered out six home runs in the game including two off the bat of
Matthew Turner. His first came as the second batter of the game as he belted a two-run bomb to left field. Just an inning later, he hit his second a solo shot to left center.

Spencer Bramwell,
Jordan Stubbings, and
Harrison Rodgers all went big fly in the game.
The Mavericks had 24 hits in the game with 15 of those going for extra bases. Everyone in the starting lineup had a hit with seven of the nine getting at least two hits.
The win runs their win streak over Mines to 16 games and their season win streak to nine games.
Colorado Mesa will be on the road next weekend for a crucial RMAC series with the UCCS Mountain Lions in Colorado Springs.
