PHOENIX— Julianna Campos,
Halle Romero and
Lauren Thomas all went a perfect 4-0 throughout the day as the Colorado Mesa University Maverick women's tennis team picked up two team wins to improve to 6-0 for the first time in program history on Saturday.
The Mavericks squeaked out a 4-3 win over NCAA Division II rival Western New Mexico in nearby Surprise to begin the day and then dominated NAIA Arizona Christian, 6-1 in the nightcap here at the Phoenix Tennis Center.

The Mavericks came from behind in both doubles play and the match overall as Campos and her older sister Carolena squeaked out a 7-6 (7-2) tie-breaker win in No. 3 doubles to give the Mavericks the early doubles-point.
The Mustangs, now 2-1, then won at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles to take a 3-2 lead after Romero had won at No. 4 singles.
However, the Mavericks rallied again as Thomas then claimed a 6-0 third set win over Nicold Gonzalez at No. 5 singles before
Julianna Campos won the clincher, 6-1, 6-4 over Massiel Paredes at No. 6.
Romero's victory had come by a 6-3, 6-3 margin over Julia Terrazes. She and Thomas also teamed to beat Paredes and Terrazas in the No. 2 doubles match after the Mustangs' top duo of Julia Tozzi and Camila Gomez had won the No. 1 doubles affair, 6-2 over CMU's
Issy Coman and
Maike Waldburger.
Colorado Mesa 6, Arizona Christian 1
The Mavericks continued to roll as Coman and Waldburger and a changed doubles duo of
Carolena Campos and Thomas both posted 6-3 wins in the top two flights. The Mavericks also won the No. 3 doubles affair by forfeit as the Firestorm (0-3) fielded a lineup of just five players.
The Mavericks also cruised in singles winning each of the first five completed matches, including the forfeited No. 6 tilt.
Waldburger was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Karla Gorbbelaar at No. 2 before
Carolena Campos claimed a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sydney Smyth at No. 3. Meanwhile, Romero was a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Samantha Salim at No. 4 while Thomas took care of Sylvie Schoenen, 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth flight.
ACU's lone win came win at No. 1 singles from Deondra Bacchus, who won 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 over Coman.
