RICHMOND, Va.— The Colorado Mesa University men's and women's swimming and diving teams both set new program records as they both checked in at the No. 4 spot of the latest College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America Division II Top 25 polls, released on Thursday.
The monthly polls are conducted by voting committees comprised of six Division II coaches and two select media outlets and are designed to rank the top 25 teams in the nation based on perceived dual meet strength.
The Maverick men moved up two spots from sixth in last month's poll and received 130 points in Thursday's announcement. The CMU women had been ranked seventh in November and also received 130 points this time around.
Indianapolis continues to hold down the No. 1 spot in both polls although the Greyhounds are now tied with Queens atop the women's poll. Queens is also still second in the men's poll while Drury is ranked third in both.
McKendree sits fifth in the men's poll while Grand Valley State and Florida Southern are tied for sixth. Wingate is eighth while Findlay, up from 21
st from November's poll, is ninth. Lindenwood rounds out the top 10.
Oklahoma Christian and the Colorado School of Mines also represent the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the No. 12 and No. 18 spots.
Wingate sits just behind the Mavericks in the women's poll while Carson-Newman, Nova Southeastern, West Chester, Northern Michigan Tampa round out the top 10. Mines is ranked 24
th as the only other RMAC squad in the top 25.
The Mavericks will next compete on Jan. 7 at the Air Force Duals.
