WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team opened their final tournament of the fall on Monday (Oct. 11) at the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club. Nineteen teams from the region played two rounds today that didn't end until after sunset this evening.
Colorado Mesa currently sits in eighth place in the tournament after a two-round total of 575. After playing the first round of the day at 7-over, 291, the Mavericks shaved off those seven strokes by finishing at even-par, 284 in the second round.
Host Midwestern State is in the clubhouse in first place at 9-under after playing the second round at 6-under, 278. Hutchinson CC and Colorado Christian are tied for second at 7-under.
Freshman
Chris Tarmet leads the Mavericks after the two rounds with a 3-under, 68 in his second round. Tarmet had five birdies in his second round and finished with seven birdies on the day. He played the first round at 2-over, 73 and is in a tie for 18
th place on the individual leaderboard.
Peter Grossenbacher was the Mavericks No. 2 golfer on day one. Grossenbacher had just five blemishes in 36-holes of golf on Monday. He shot a 1-over, 72 in his second round while carding a 1-under, 70 in his opening round for an even-par and a tie for 26
th place.
The final round begins tomorrow morning at 7:30am.
