DURANGO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team got a much needed road win on Friday evening when they held off the Fort Lewis Skyhawks in an 89-82 win in a crucial Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road match in Whalen Gymnasium.
Junior big man
Ethan Richardson enjoyed his productive night as a Maverick. Richardson finished with a season and game-high 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field, both season-highs as well.
Richardson teamed with
Ethan Menzies to limit one of the best scorers in the league to 21 points on less than 50 percent shooting from the field.
Jared Small continued to light it up from just about anywhere on the floor. Small had 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor and 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Michael Skinner finished with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds to round out the Maverick double-digit scorers.
Colorado Mesa limited Fort Lewis to just 39.7 percent shooting from the floor and 32.4 percent from downtown.
The win coupled with the South Dakota Mines loss to UCCS tonight puts the Mavericks one game up in the fourth and final home playoff game position in the conference standings.
The Mavericks will look to make it three straight on the road tomorrow night in Alamosa when they take on Adams State at 7:30pm in Plachy Hall.
