GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks were defeated by the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico University by a score of 2-0 Thursday night in the 2019 season opener on Walker Field.
The Greyhounds scored one goal in each half despite the Mavericks outshooting the Greyhounds 15-9. ENMU's goalkeeper recorded six saves to keep the Mavs scoreless.
Maverick goalkeeper Brendan Brown recorded his first career start in net and finished the night with three saves.
The Mavs will take the field again on Sunday for a chance at their first win of the season when they take on Newman University at 1:30 pm on Walker Field. This will be the first game for the Jets as they come to Walker Field with a 0-0-0 record.
