DENVER, Colo. - Ramses Atahualpa scored the only goal of the game in Friday afternoon's match against MSU Denver at the Regency Athletic Complex. After this win the Mavericks record improves to 4-1-1 and 2-0-1. For the second time this season the Mavericks have shutout their opponent and have now put together back-to-back games without allowing a goal. Brendan Brown who has started every game this season for the Mavericks in the net recorded two saves.
Atahualpa recorded the first goal of his Maverick career in the 84th minute of the match and led the team with four shots. Senior Kevin Chavez was awarded the assist which is the first of his two year Maverick career.
As a team the Mavericks outshot the Roadrunners 18-7 and took five more shots on goal than them. Following Atahualpa's goal the Roadrunners took one shot in an attempt to tie the game. The Mavericks took two shots in the last five minutes that were each saved by Alessandro Gentile the Roadrunners starting goalkeeper who ended the night with six saves.
With this win over MSU Denver the Mavericks have now defeated the Roadunners in that past five consecutives matches dating back to 2017.

The Mavericks will face Colorado Christian on Sunday at 2:30 pm in Lakewood, Colo. at Trailblazer Stadium. The Cougars are 0-6 on the year and just recently fell to Fort Lewis 1-0 on Friday night.
