National Championship Experience
Tampa is in search of their eighth National Championship and first since 2015 while Colorado Mesa is in search of their first National Championship.

Previous Matchups
Colorado Mesa and Tampa have met just two times before with both matchups coming in the NCAA Division II Championships in 2014. The Spartans defeated the Mavericks in the first matchup which came in the National Semifinals. The Mavericks entered the game as the undefeated team and fell 3-1 in a game that lasted just a little over two hours. Ryan Reno pitched a complete game and allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits, walked one and struck out three.

Just a day later, Colorado Mesa defeated Tampa 3-2, handing the Spartans just their fourth loss of the season and sent the Mavericks to their first National Championship game appearance. Kevan Elcock's sacrifice fly to short right field that scored Garrett Woodward was the deciding run in the ninth inning. Tyler Ehlers was the winning pitcher having pitched the final two and a third innings of the game.

Pitching Matchup
Both teams will likely send out their game one starter from the tournament with both pitchers on their full allotment of rest. Colorado Mesa will likely send out Trevin Reynolds who is 7-1 on the season with a 3.98 ERA. He is 4-0 in four postseason starts including an eight inning, 11 strikeout performance in the regional tournament against Colorado School of Mines. If the Mavericks win, Andrew Morris would likely start the if necessary game. Do not count out Will Dixon making a appearance despite pitching a complete game shutout on Thursday evening.

Tampa will likely trot out MLB Draft pick Keven Pimentel who pitched seven innings and allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out eight in the tournament opening win over Mercyhurst. Pimentel has thrown 112.2 innings on the season and has 106 strikeouts and has a record of 12-2. If they need to go to a game two, expect Mason Duke to make that start. In that game, closer Tyler Beck comes off of suspension that he served after an incident in the Super Region final against Delta State.

The Hitters
Sophomores Caleb Farmer and Spencer Bramwell remain the Mavericks hottest hitters in the NCAA National Championship tournament. Farmer enters the National Championship game with a .500 average (9-for-18) in the tournament while Bramwell is batting .438 (7-for-16) with four doubles.

Danny Sirven and Yorvis Torrealba lead Tampa's offensive attack. Sirven is batting .360 on the season with 13 doubles and five home runs while Torrealba, the son of former Colorado Rockie Yorvit Torrealba, is hitting .405 with 16 doubles and 11 home runs.
