Greeley, CO - The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Men's Sevens Rugby team competed in the University of Northern Colorado's (UNC) Bear Den Classic Rugby Tournament on March 31st.
They played in four matches and placed 3rd overall after beating UNC in the 3rd place match. I their first match the team faced UNC and finished the match with a win and a final score of 24-12. In the second match their opponent was University of Nebraska at Omaha, again the team was victorious beating Nebraska 27-12.
Unfortunately the men were edged out of a win by the University of Denver and loss 24-26. However, they secured their 3rd place finish with a 29-17 win over UNC. Up next for the team is the home CMU Spring Sevens Tournament at the CMu Rugby pitch on April 6th.
The CMU Men's Rugby team will kickoff the tournament against Weber State University at 10 a.m., followed by Western Colorado University at 11 a.m. and then Colorado College at 12 noon. Tournament play will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
