Mavericks Bury 11 Threes in Win over Chadron State

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team led for over 38 minutes in a 84-70 win over the Chadron State Eagles to complete the weekend sweep in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action in Brownson Arena.
 
The Mavericks jumped out to a ten point lead with 6:01 to play in the first half at 37-27 following a Kolton Peterson three-pointer. Peterson finished with a game and season-high 18 points on a season-high six three-point baskets.
 
Colorado Mesa shot 48.3 percent (29-of-60) from the field and over 88 percent (15-of-17) from the charity stripe. The Mavericks had a 15-3 edge in fast-break points along with scoring 24 points off 15 Chadron State turnovers.
 
They also had four players finish in double-digit scoring with Peterson, Georgie Dancer (18), Tommy Nuno (14) and Jared Small (10).
 
Nuno pulled down a team-high six rebounds, handed out a game-high nine assists, and four steals.
 
The Mavericks sit in a tie for second place in the RMAC standings with a 3-1 mark in the conference, 7-3 overall while Chadron State falls to 2-8, 1-3 in the conference.
 
Colorado Mesa will take on Western Colorado on December 20 in Brownson Arena before the mandated NCAA break. The Mountaineers are also coming off the weekend sweep of Chadron State and MSU Denver.
