GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Michael Skinner's steal and fast break layup with 12.4 seconds left gave Colorado Mesa their final lead of the night in a 60-58 win over the MSU Denver Roadrunners in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contest on Friday (Dec. 13) night in Brownson Arena. The game was the featured matchup as part of the NCAA National Showcase.
The Mavericks raced out to a 12-2 lead early in the contest only to see it shrink away. They went a stretch of four minutes and 46 seconds without a point in the first half but only trailed by four, 28-24, entering halftime.
The Roadrunners led nearly the entire second half (15:39) and led 58-55 with 4:19 to play. That's when they hit their cold streak and wouldn't score again.
