GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Behind a season high 21 points and nine rebounds from Tommy Nuno the Mavericks improved to 4-2 on the season after defeating Montana Western 95-64 Saturday night inside Brownson Arena. Four Mavericks scored in double-digits as the team shot a season best 63.2 percent from the three-point line.
The Mavs knocked down a season high 12 three-pointers in tonight's victory. Nuno and David Rico were both a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc while Kolton Peterson knocked down three of his five attempts. Nuno neared the first double-double of his season after a game high 21 points and nine rebounds.
The Mavericks took over in the second half after holding a 36-33 edge over the Bulldogs at the break. They went on to outscore the Bulldogs 59-31 in the second half and gained their largest lead of the game (35 points) with 1:19 remaining in regulation.
Transfers, Georgie Dancer and Clay Verk both recorded career highs in tonight's victory as Dancer recorded 19 points (7-of-12 FG) and Verk recorded 16 points (7-of-12 FG).
The Bulldogs shot 46.4 percent from the field and were led by Brian Howell who recorded 17 points.

The Mavericks will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play next weekend against UCCS and Colorado School of Mines. They will tip off against the Mountain Lions on Dec 5 at 7:30 pm in the Gallogly Events Center. The following day they will face Colorado School of Mines at 7:30 pm in the Lockridge Arena.
