GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Four Colorado Mesa University all-America divers will get a sneak peek of this season's NCAA Division II Championships site when they travel to Geneva, Ohio for this weekend's Atlantic-10 Classic at the Spire Institute Aquatics Center, which is being hosted by Duquesne University.
Head Diving Coach
Logan Pearsall will be taking
Brittany Dixon,
Ammar Hassan,
Chandler Livingston and
Noah Macomber to compete on both the 1 and 3-meter boards.
No CMU swimmers will be attending as they will compete in a triangular at Air Force on Friday evening along with a handful of other CMU divers.
The men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter competitions will be held during the opening session on Saturday, which begins at 11 a.m. EDT. They women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter events will be contested during Sunday's portion of the meet, which begins at 9 a.m. local time.
Hassan and Dixon will enter in the best form as reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Divers of the Week.
Dixon has earned the award three consecutive times and broke the pool records for both six optional dives and 11 total dives off the 1-meter board at Western Colorado University's Paul Wright Natatorium last Thursday in Gunnison. She won both the compulsory and optional dive segments of the competition and has already booked a trip back to Ohio for the national championships in March by meeting the NCAA qualifying standards multiple times this year.
The senior out of West Fargo, North Dakota, is a 4-time overall and 3-time First Team CSCAA All-American.
Hassan is a perfect 4-for-4 in setting NCAA qualifying marks this season and has been named as the CSCAA NCAA Division II Diver of the Year twice after sweeping the NCAA Division II Championships in both 2018 and 2019. Now a junior, Hassan has also represented his native Egypt at the last two FINA World Diving Championships.
In his last time out, Hassan set a pool-record score of 366.80 points on the 1-meter board and won both the 1 and 3-meter titles in an Oct. 18 dual at Division I BYU.
Macomber, a 6-time all-American out of Zeeland, Michigan, has also already qualified for the national meet and defeated Hassan and the rest of the field in an Oct. 12 dual at Division I Denver on the 3-meter with a solid 6-dive score of 322.20 points. He was also named as the initial RMAC Diver of the Week on Oct. 9 for his efforts at the Intermountain Shootout against Air Force and BYU.
Livingston, a junior from Pueblo, earned his first two career all-America honor in 2019 with eighth and ninth place finishes at last year's national championship. He has a season-best score 287.25 points on the 3-meter and 260.80 points on the 1-meter board this season.
