GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University women's swimming and diving team was picked tenth in the CSCAA/TYR Top 25 Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll while the Maverick men were just one spot out of the top 10 in 11
th, it was announced by the organization this week.
The Maverick women received 105 points in the poll, which was topped by defending national champion Queens (N.C.) with 175 points. CMU is the only Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team in the top 25 although associate member Oklahoma Baptist received seven points to fall just three spots out a top 25 spot.
Meanwhile, the Maverick men received 75 points. Oklahoma Baptist was picked 25
th with five points while Queens again topped the poll after winning last year's national title with 125 points.
In 2018-19, both Maverick teams won RMAC titles before claiming their best ever finishes at the NCAA Division II National Championships, which saw the men finish 11
th while the women took 16
th.
CMU was also chosen as the
unanimous favorite to defend their RMAC titles in the RMAC coaches' polls, which were announced earlier this month.
The poll of member coaches aims to measure the nation's top teams in head-to-head dual meet competition.
The next poll is scheduled for release on Nov. 11.
