Mavs Suffer First Loss of RMAC Season

Set to play UCCS on Sunday at 2:30 pm

GOLDEN, Colo. -  The Colorado Mesa Mavericks suffered their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference loss of the season to Regis University on Friday afternoon at Stermole Stadium on the campus of Colorado School of Mines. This game was moved from the Regis Match Pitch due to snowfall in the Denver area. 
 

The Mavericks conference record fell to 4-1-2 after Friday afternoon's game while their overall record fell to 6-2-2. This was the first time since the opening game of the season the Mavericks were shutout.
 

Regis University scored a goal in the 18th minute which was followed by an own goal committed by CMU during the 24thminute that put the Rangers up 2-0. 
 

For the first time in his career Rhett Cook got the start as goalkeeper against the Rangers. The sophomore from Aliso Viejo, Calif. recorded three saves in his debut match. The Rangers' goalkeeper recorded three saves and faced seven total shots taken by the Maverick offense which was led by Peter Vandam and Lawan Abary who each took two shots. One of Abary's shots was on target while James Scasserra and Colton Shafer each took a shot on goal. 
 

The Mavericks will look to bounce back against UCCS on Sunday at 2:30 pm.
