GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team suffered their worst defeat of the season on Friday evening (Jan. 25), falling to Dixie State 86-61 in Brownson Arena in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks shot a season-low 40.4 percent from the field and made just three three-point baskets at a 16.7 percent clip from the field. On the other hand, the Trailblazers had their second best shooting night of the season, making over 58 percent of their shots including a season-best 61.9 percent from three.
The Trailblazers led wire-to-wire with their largest lead coming as 25 at the final score.
Despite the loss, newcomer
Kenzo Nudo enjoyed his best game as a Mav. The Grand Canyon transfer poured in a game-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.
Connor Nichols finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Dixie State got 43 points out of their bench led by the 17 points of Wade Miller who was 6-for-8 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from three.
Colorado Mesa falls to 12-6 on the season and 7-5 in the conference while Dixie State improved to 8-8 on the year and 6-6 in the RMAC.
The Mavericks will have a chance to get back on the winning track tomorrow when they host Westminster in Brownson Arena at 7:30pm. The Griffins defeated Western Colorado in Gunnison on Friday night 77-72.
