Men's Lax Scores Eight Unanswered to Win 16-5

Colorado Mesa University used dominant second and third quarters to seal their 16-5 win over Adams State University (ASU). The win gives the Mavericks their fourth in a row and their 15th straight conference win dating back to last season.

The Grizzlies and Mavericks played the game back and forth in the first quarter, with CMU gaining a narrow 3-2 lead heading into the second. From the beginning of the second quarter to the 11:04 mark of the third, CMU's offense came alive. They scored eight unanswered to push the Maverick lead up to nine (11-2).

ASU tried to respond with two quick goals to cut into the lead, but the Mavericks would close out the game on a 5-1 run to end any chance at a comeback.

CMU's offense put up 72 shots on the Grizzlies on the afternoon, including 20 shots in both the second and third quarters. They also finished the game with 42 shots on goal. Defensively the Mavericks were clicking as well, forcing Adams state to commit 26 turnovers on the afternoon.

Jack Griffin finished with a game high four goals, followed by Brandon Wilson and Reece Callies who both tallied hat tricks. Wilson finished the game with three assists for a game high six points, while Callies added two assists of his own to follow right behind with five total points.

Remi Reeves was in net for CMU, and he received his seventh win of the season. Reeves finished the game with three saves.

The Mavericks have one more on the road before coming home for a two-game set. This will be against Rockhurst University on Saturday. Game time is set for 10 a.m.
