Colorado Mesa welcomes in the Regis Rangers for a four-game series at Suplizio Field. The series marks just third home series of the season and first home games in over a month at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks own an all-time mark of 134-34 against the Rangers including a 5-0 record in 2017 with one of those wins coming in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.Â
Regis enters the weekend after losing all three of their pod weekend games to either MSU Denver or UCCS (the group lost a days worth of games due to weather). They do, however, own a season opening, series win over Lucbbock Christian.
Chris Kobar leads Regis in batting average this season with a .358 average with six doubles and two home runs. Kobar is the Rangers leadoff hitter and possesses a .418 on-base percentage. Andrew Bryniarski is a big thumper in the middle of the order, as he leads the team with 12 home runs and 37 runs driven in.
Brad Thoutt and Noah Gotsis combine for one of the best 1-2 pitching duos in the RMAC.
LAST WEEKEND
The Mavericks split the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pod weekend in Golden over the weekend. They defeated Colorado Christian twice before falling to Colorado School of Mines twice. The Maverick hitters batted .347 to their opponents .319 average while the pitching staff had a 7.15 ERA in the four games to their opponents 8.49 ERA.Â
HISTORY WITH REGIS
Colorado Mesa took all five matchups from the Regis Rangers a year ago including one in the RMAC Tournament. The Mavericks have a 134-34 edge in the all-time series with the Rangers and are 18-3 in the last four seasons. The Rangers enter the weekend with the fifth best batting average in the league at .305 and the third best ERA at 5.45. Regis is the top fielding team in the RMAC with a fielding percentage of .975.

Zach McLeod reached a milestone in his career over the weekend. The Trabuco Canyon, Calif. native eclipsed the 200 hit mark for his career. He currently sits at 202 hits in his career and has a .328 career batting average with 49 doubles, seven triples and 12 home runs.Â

Minor League Baseball began last weekend with two former Mavericks playing prominent roles in their teams season opening series.
Bligh Madris, playing for the Bradenton Marauders, is batting .348 with a double, a home run, and a team-high six RBIs.
Tyler Day, playing for the Bowling Green Hot Rods, is 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA in three appearances.

Chris Hanks won his 800th game as the skipper of Colorado Mesa University. Hanks' first win came on February 11, 1999, a 9-6 win over Division I Southern Utah in St. George, Utah.

Colorado Mesa has played 25 of their first 33 games away from Suplizio Field (including four neutral site games). They are 15-10 in those games and have 12 of their final 16 games at home.

The Mavericks set a program record a year ago by going 50-12 during the 2017 campaign. The 50 wins was a program first and ending up leading the nation in wins. The 50th win may not have come against a grander opponent in top ranked Delta State in the NCAA Division II World Series.

The Mavericks climbed one spot to No. 6 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper coach's poll this week. Monday's game did not factor into the rankings this week. Colorado Mesa is down to No. 10 in the Perfect Game rankings atfer holding steady in the top five for most of the season.Â

Head coach
Chris Hanks enters his 20th season guiding the Mavericks and has an impressive 804-333 record, most in program history. In 2017, he guided the Mavericks to their third NCAA Division II World Series and their ninth straight NCAA Tournament. The feat earned him ABCA South Central Region Coach of the year, an honor he has earned three times now.
UP NEXT
Colorado Mesa will host Adams State for four games next weekend at Suplizio Field. It will be the first and only back-to-back home series the Mavericks have this season. Adams State enters the current weekend in the RMAC cellar at 3-17 in the conference and 3-31 overall.
