Box Score GREELEY, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's tennis team headed across the mountains to take on a whole host of teams this weekend. Starting off the trip was a visit to NCAA Division I Northern Colorado on Thursday (Mar. 22). UNC came away with the 5-2 win in a match that featured some close matches.
Northern Colorado picked up the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 3.
Emily Beckley and
Rebecca Osterberg earned the win at No. 2 doubles over the Bears' Madeline Doherty and Sarina Chhabra in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-5).
The Bears went on to win four of the six singles matches.
Kristen Kirby earned the win over Bear Tristen Bryant-Otake in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-5 while
Emily Beckley defeated Anna Battersby, in come-from-behind fashion, at No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.
UNC's Madeline Doherty defeated Osterberg at No. 3 singles 7-5, 7-5 while
Taylor Hershey dropped a tough three setter to Sarina Chhabra at No.4 singles 6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-5.
The Mavericks will head to Pueblo to take on a whole host of South Central Region opponents beginning with Angelo State at 9:30am tomorrow (Mar. 23).
