CHADRON, Neb. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team snapped a four-game skid on Friday evening with a 90-71 win over the Chadron State Eagles in the Chicoine Center in Rocky Mountatin Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks led nearly wire-to-wire and led by as many as 26 with 3:47 left in the game when they led 84-58 after a three-pointer by
Emilio Acedo.
Acedo finished the night with a team-high 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, including 4-for-6 from beyond the three-point line. The junior also pulled down four rebounds and handed out four assists.
Colorado Mesa had their best shooting night of the season as they shot 56.1 percent from the field (37-of-56) and nearly 60 percent in the second half at 59.4 percent.
The Mavericks forced 12 turnovers in the game and made the most of them, converting it into 21 points.
Connor Nichols finished with 22 points and eight rebounds while
Damon Dubots added 12 points and handed out four assists.
Brandon Hoffer continued to be a key contributor, finishing with nine points, six rebounds, and nine assists.
Chadron State was led by the hot shooting of Drew Kuxhausen who finished with a game-high 27 points.
Colorado Mesa evened their record at 7-7 on the season and 3-5 in the conference while Chadron State falls to 3-12 overall and 1-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Mavericks will take on the Regis Rangers at 7pm in Denver on Saturday to close out the road trip.
