SAN ANGELO, TEXAS –
Kellie Mrofcza scored on a single by
Abby Toller in the bottom of the ninth to lift the No. 11 Colorado Mesa University softball team to a 3-2 win over
Cameron in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday (May 11).
The game was a defensive dual from the start with neither team scoring in the first four innings.
With two outs in the fifth, Abbey Toller singled through the left side, and
Baylee Boren singled to third base. The pair scored on a double down the left line by
Maggie Manwarren.
Toller led the Mavericks batting three-for-four.
The Aggies scored one run in the sixth thanks to three consecutive singles.
Cameron tied the game with one run in the seventh on two singles.
McKenzie Surface (27-4) struckout 11 and scattered seven hits, all singles.
No. 11 Colorado Mesa (47-6) will face No. 1 Angelo State Friday (May 11) at noon.
