SALT LAKE CITY, Utah –
Jack Griffin's goal with 3:34 left in overtime to give the No. 18 Colorado Mesa men's lacrosse team a 14-13 win over Westminster on Saturday afternoon at Dumke Field in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference showdown.
This marks the second straight season the Mavericks and Griffins have needed overtime to settle the final at Dumke Field and for the second straight season the Mavericks have come away victorious.
Colorado Mesa took a 9-8 lead into the halftime break but surrendered the lead shortly after.
The Mavericks trailed 13-12 with 7:36 remaining in the game after a Griffin goal by Blake Bruner.
Connor Larrick scored his seventh goal of the season, a game-tying goal with 2:56 to play to knot the match at 13-13.
Steve Brandenburg scored three goals for the Mavericks pushing his season total to 43. He took nine shots with six coming on goal and added two ground ball pickups.

Brady George led the defensive unit with five groundball pickups and four caused turnovers.
Remi Reeves earned the win in net making 12 saves in over 60 minutes of work. He made four groundball pickups and committed one turnover.
The Colorado Mesa win streak has grown to three games and they moved their overall record to 11-2 and now sit 6-1 in the RMAC. They are a game and a half up on Adams State in the standings.
The Mavericks remaining three games are all at Walker Field. They will play CSU-Pueblo on April 21 at 7pm.
