Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. – Colorado Mesa completed their fifth consecutive series sweep and extended its win streak to 21 games after a 16-5 win over Adams State on Sunday afternoon at ASU Baseball Field.
The Grizzlies jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the first inning and held the lead until the third inning when
Lane LaCrone hit a RBI single to left field to knot the game at 1-1.
LaCrone finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs driven in.
Colorado Mesa broke the game wide open after back-to-back six run innings in the fourth and fifth innings. In the two innings, the Mavericks scored 12 runs on nine hits that included a pair of home runs.
Utility man
Bligh Madris was 2-for-4 with a run scored and six RBIs in the game. He hit a bases clearing double in the fourth inning and added his 12
th home run of the season in the fifth inning.
Catcher
Tanner Rempel hit his second home run in as many games in the fifth inning, a solo shot to left center field.
Kyle Serrano also added three hits in the game.
AJ Landis earned the win in relief. Landis (2-1) pitched an inning and two-thirds and allowed two hits, walked one and struck out four.
Seven pitchers were used in the game and combined they struck out 14 and allowed just seven hits.
The Mavericks improved their record to 34-8 on the year and 26-2 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will return home for their final regular season home series next weekend. They will play Colorado Mines in the annual Fireworks Friday Night presented by Ed Bozarth/Mark Miller Chevrolet at 6:05pm at Suplizio Field.
