GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. –
Zach McLeod scored on a walk-off single to left field by
Garrett Ball to lift the Colorado Mesa University baseball team to a 7-6 win over CSU-Pueblo Friday (March 24).
The Thunderwolves plated one run in the first, but
Andrew Contreras tied the game with a homerun to right field in the second.
Contreras drove in the Mavericks second run with a single to left field in the fourth.
Pueblo tied the game with a two-out single up the middle that scored one run in the fifth.
Kyle Serrano took the lead back for the Mavericks with a two-run homer to left field in the sixth.
CSUP led off the eighth inning with a double and a walk that they turned into a pair of runs on an error on a sac bunt and a second sac bunt.
The Mavericks once again regained the lead in the eighth scoring two runs on three hits with two outs.

Kevan Elcock drove in CMU's second run with a double to center field.
Pueblo tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the ninth scoring two runs on three singles. Zach Hoffman and David Gunther led off the inning with back-to-back singles and then advanced on a wild pitch. Brandon Castaneda drove in Pueblo's first run with a single to right field, and Mitch Doucette drove in the second with a sac bunt.
JJ Carr led off the ninth for CMU with a single to right field, but was thrown out at second on a sac bunt attempt by
Zach McLeod. McLeod advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a single to left field by
Garrett Ball.
Andrew Contreras finished 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Kyle Leahy got the start giving up two runs, on five hits, and striking out six.
Brick Paskiewicz (3-0) earned the win giving up two runs on three hits in one inning of work.
Colorado Mesa (15-8, 7-2) and CSU-Pueblo (13-14, 7-6) will continue the series with a doubleheader Saturday (March 25).
