ALAMOSA, Colo. – Colorado Mesa scored 10 goals in the third quarter in a 26-4 win over Maryville in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's lacrosse neutral site matchup at Adams State Lacrosse Field.
Colorado Mesa finished the first quarter of action with a 7-1 lead. Seven different Mavericks scored goals in the quarter
The Mavericks took a 9-3 lead into halftime before exploding for 10 runs in the third quarter and shutting out the Saints in the same quarter.
Jayden Campbell and
Calen Ketcham each netted four goals in the win. Campbell also reached a unique college milestone with his 100
th collegiate point in the contest (including his time at Young Harris College).
Senior
Steve Brandenburg kept pestering defenses and goalies on Sunday. Brandenburg added three goals and three assists in the game, moving his weekly total goal total to 11.
Faceoff specialist
Michael Marino was 13-for-14 on faceoffs today with 10 groundballs pickups and caused a turnover.
Remi Reeves earned the win in net to move, making two saves and allowing just one goal.
The Mavericks improve to 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in the conference while Maryville remains winless at 0-5 and 0-2 in the RMAC.
Colorado Mesa will embark on their Florida trip beginning next weekend.
