GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa dropped the final game of a four-game series to Montana State Billings on Sunday falling 7-2 at Suplizio Field in a non-conference matchup.
Colorado Mesa took an early 1-0 lead on a RBI single by
Bligh Madris that scored
Brick Paskiewicz in the first inning.
The Yellowjackets answered back in the top of the second inning, tying the game at 1-1.
The Mavericks took their final lead of the day after Paskiewicz hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot over the center field wall.
Montana State scored four unearned runs in the fourth inning and the Mavericks couldn't recover as they committed four errors in the game.
Yellowjacket Sam Muskat came in on the mound and the Mavericks off balance. Muskat retired all 15 batters he faced, inducing nine flyouts in the process.
Montana State Billings retired the final 18 batters in the ballgame.
Zach McLeod reached on a hit by pitch in the fourth and was the last batter to reach.
Paskiewicz was the lone Maverick with multiple hits in the game.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action on Thursday as they host Cal Baptist in a four-game series at Suplizio Field.
