After going winless in the opening weekend, the men's basketball team is still searching for their first win of the 2017-18 season. They are traveling down to Gunnison, Colo. to participate in the Western State tournament this weekend in hopes of getting that win. They will be taking on Midwestern State University (MSU) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in the two games.
MSU is also looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first two to open up the year. Meanwhile for ERAU, they are 3-1 on the season and have won their last two coming into the weekend tournament.
CMU is led by
Connor Nichols who is currently third in the RMAC with 21 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. MSU is currently led by sophomore guard Logan Hicks, who is averaging 17.5 points per game for the Mustangs. As for the Eagles, they are led by junior guard Logan Skurdal who is putting up 14 points a game.
The first game against MSU is set to take place on Friday with tip off scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Then on Saturday at 5 p.m. the Mavericks will take on the Eagles.
