GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's tennis team split a pair of matches on the second day of the Maverick Duals at the Elliott Tennis Center and Canyon View Park.
The Mavericks rebounded from a tough loss on Thursday night to Dixie State with a 7-2 win over Colorado Christian at Canyon View Park.
Colorado Mesa won two of the three doubles matches as
Kristen Kirby and
Emily Beckley won at No. 1 doubles 8-3 while
Rebecca Osterberg and
Taylor Hershey won at No. 2 doubles 8-2. CCU earned the win at No. 3 doubles.
The Mavericks also won five of the six singles matches. Kirby won in straight sets at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-1) while Beckley rebounded from yesterday with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Maddie Anderson at No. 2 singles.
Hershey earned the straight set win at No. 4 singles,
Kylie Simons picked up the win at No. 5 and
Carolena Campos earned a win at No. 6.
It was a different story in the afternoon as the Mavericks were swept 9-0 by MSU Denver.
Colorado Mesa dropped two three setters at No. 3 and No. 4 singles and a two set tiebreak thriller at No. 5.
The split puts the Mavericks record at 3-4 on the season with their final fall match tomorrow at 5pm against Colorado College.
