PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's tennis team defeated CSU-Pueblo 5-2 on Friday (April 22) to advance to the finals of the RMAC Tournament.
The Mavericks started the match off strong by sweeping singles.
Frederikke Karst and
Emily Dodson defeated Toni Alvarez and Kristin Jensen 8-3 at No. 1 and
Katie Kirby and
Michelle Phillips won 8-2 against Mariana Hosomi and Teresa Haro at No. 2. Then
Emily Beckley and
Katie Metz completed the sweep by posting an 8-6 win against Gia Montoya and Samantha Cachutt at No. 3.
Emily Beckley won the first singles match for the Mavericks when she posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3.
Taylor Hershey then won in 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 to give CMU the win.
Colorado Mesa (16-12) will face the No. 2 seed Western New Mexico (9-15) for the RMAC Tournament title on Saturday (April 23) at 12pm.
