GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Regular Season Conference Championship after defeating CSU-Pueblo 8-1 in their final home match of the regular season on Saturday (April 16).
In doubles play,
Emily Dodson and
Frederikke Karst defeated Toni Alvarez and Kristin Jensen 8-6 at No. 1, while
Michelle Phillips and
Katie Metz got an 8-1 win over Mariana Hosomi and Teresa Haro.
The only loss for the Mavericks came at No. 1 singles in a 10-point tiebreak.
Two of the other singles matches went to tiebreaks as well.
Katie Kirby posted a 4-6, 6-2, 13-11 win at No. 2 singles and
Michelle Phillips got a 7-6 (4), 6-3, 10-6 victory at No. 4.
Emily Beckley and
Taylor Hershey also got wins at No. 3 and 5 respectively.
Colorado Mesa travels to Pueblo this weekend (April 22-23) for the RMAC Tournament.
