Women's Tennis Comes Out Victorious Against Roadrunners

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team defeated Metro State University of Denver 5-4 on Friday (April 15).
 
CMU swept MSU Denver in doubles play to start the match.
 
Frederikke Karst and Emily Dodson posted a 9-8 (4) score at No. 1 doubles. Katie Kirby and Michelle Phillips won 8-5 at No. 2 and Katie Metz and Emily Beckley got an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
 
The Roadrunners came back though by winning at No. 2 and 4 singles. The No. 1 and 3 singles matches both went to three sets, but MSU Denver came out victorious in both of those as well.
 
Taylor Hershey defeated Ana-Jelena Vujosevic 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 to tie the match up.
 
It came down to the No. 6 singles match. Katie Metz won the first set 6-1, but the second set was back and forth. Metz eventually came out on top 6-4 to clinch for the Mavericks.
 
Colorado Mesa closes out their regular season at home against CSU-Pueblo April 16.
