VideoComplete Game Notes vs. MSU DenverWEEKEND RECAPColorado Mesa swept the RMAC opening series from Colorado Christian at All-Star Park. The Mavericks won the first three games of the series by shutout and escaped the series finale with a 9-7 win. In the opener, it took 10 innings but the Mavericks came away with a 2-0 win followed by and 11-0 and a 6-0 shutout in the doubleheader on Saturday.

Alex Fife extended his hit streak to 15 games after getting a hit in every game last weekend at Colorado Christian. Sophomore outfielder
Bligh Madris did not play over the weekend due to a hand injury so his on base streak of 41 games remains intact. The last time he didnt reach base was March 21 against New Mexico Highlands where he went 0-for-3. Â
SHUTOUTSThe Mavericks have shutout four opponents this season including three last weekend. They rank second in all of Div. II baseball in shutouts behind former West Region foe Chico State who has five.Â
JY3Senior outfielder
James Young III has been the Mavericks leading hitter to start the season. He is batting .462 with six doubles, two home runs and 12 runs driven in. He also has an OPS of 1.166 and has swiped nine bases which ranks second in the RMAC.
LOCAL PRODUCTJunior catcher
Kyle Serrano went on a tear this past weekend after a somewhat slow start to the season. He batted .538 with two double, two home runs and six runs scored. On the season, he is batting .388 with three doubles and 10 runs driven in.
COACHINGHead coach
Chris Hanks won his 700th game for the Mavericks on February 19 in a 5-4 win over Cal Baptist. He has spent his entire 17 year coaching career at Colorado Mesa and has won 11 RMAC Championships and two NCAA Regional titles.
PROTECTING THE HOUSESuplizio Field has been very kind to the Mavericks for several seasons now. The Mavericks are 106-13 the past four seasons including the 27-5 record last season. They have not been shutout at home in 363 games dating back to the 2004 season (L 0-3 Western Oregon, Feb. 14).
RMAC TOURNAMENT IN 2015Colorado Mesa claimed their second consecutive RMAC Tournament Championship, defeating MSU Denver 7-6 on a walk-off home run by
Alex Fife. It is the the Mavericks 11th RMAC Tournament Championship, most by any school in the conference.Â
REGIONAL TOURNAMENTThe Mavericks hosted the NCAA South Central Regional for the second straight season and went 1-2 in the tournament. The Mavericks fell to St. Mary's then went on to defeat St. Edward's before falling to eventual champion Angelo State.
ON DECKColorado Mesa will continue their homestand with a two-game series with Division I Northern Colorado beginning on Tuesday at 6:05pm. Friday begins a four-game series with Colorado Mines at Suplzio Field at 6:05pm.
